Letter From Our Principal (10.27.2020)

Posted October 27, 2020

Dear Marie L. Greenwood Families,

We have successful transitioned to offering both in-person and virtual instruction for all of our Kinder – 5th Grade classes. We look forward to beginning this offering for grades 6-8 beginning on November 9 (Dependent on district decision).

This successful transition is in large part due to our staff’s emphasis on the implementation of our established safety procedures, and also their commitment to working together to offer both in-person instruction as well as virtual instruction.

This success also is due to all of our families support with working to keep students engaged at home in virtual learning, and parents sending their child to school with a mask everyday. Together with staff, students, and parents we make for a very powerful team!

I am writing to provide you some information about the upcoming couple of weeks!

Grade K-5 Announcements

  • Material Distribution for all students attending virtual classes will be Wednesday, October 28 & Thursday, October 29 from 8:00am to 4:00pm
  • Lion Leadership Social (November 9-14) – We will host our Lion Leadership Social for all students that earn 14 days or more on “Green” or “Lion Leadership”. All students that earn this by displaying positive behavior will be invited to engage in this fun reward. Please support your child by encouraging them to end their day on “Green” or “Lion Leadership”.
  • When a student is absent they are unable to earn a day towards attending the Lion Leadership Social.
  • Attendance – Daily attendance is very important, and is tracked daily. The Colorado Department Of Education requires students to reach a certain threshold for engagement in learning. If a student is sick, please call the front office and alert us. While all absences are unexcused, it is important to alert our school so we can place this within the students file.
  • Our school has disinfectants, and hand soap. Typically, these disinfectants are commercial grade. It would be a huge help for our families to donate hand soap that provides moisture (aloe, lotion etc.) that is great for sensitive hands. We are having students wash their hands numerous times throughout the day. This care soap will help with sensitive hands! We appreciate anything you can donate for your child’s class!

Grade 6-8 Announcements

  • Material Distribution for all students attending virtual classes will be Wednesday, October 28 & Thursday, October 29 from 8:00am to 4:00pm. This includes 6-8th grade students
  • Lion Leadership Social (October 30) – We will host our Lion Leadership Social for all students who have earned 50 Dojo points. Since all of our middle students are engaging virtually, we will have a virtual social per grade level. The schedule on October 30 will be altered to incorporate this social. All students who have earned this accomplishment will receive an invitation.
  • When a student is absent they are unable to earn points towards attending the Lion Leadership Social.

We appreciate all of your support. Together, we are Marie L. Greenwood!
