Dear Marie L. Greenwood Families,
I wish your family safety and security during these very difficult, and uncertain times. I know the situations that we are currently experiencing with COVID 19, and the fight for the equality of all in our local community, nation, and world directly impacts all of us. Again, I continue to send positive wishes, and thoughts of promise as we continue to navigate these next few summer months.
Even in these very uncertain times I am very enthusiastic, and honored to join the Greenwood/Montbello community as School Leader for the 2020-2021 School Year and beyond. Marie L. Greenwood as an educator the past eight years
Over the past five years, I have served the Montbello/Green Valley community as a School Leader. I have served at John H. Amesse Elementary, and most recently have served as Principal of Green Valley Elementary School. Under my leadership, we brought about a great deal of academic, and social success. This was made possible by our relentless focus on celebrating each and every one of our students. I at Marie L. Greenwood while also ensuring that we celebrate your child for his/her uniqueness and strengths.
I inherently believe that all students are capable of learning as long as they are challenged, while also being encouraged/motivated to want to succeed! I am a product of great teachers, and great schools that held me to the highest of expectations as a child. I desire this for all students!
At Marie L. Greenwood, our utmost priority is to ensure that ALL of our students reach their highest potential academically, and are on the path to being active, well-informed, and contributing members of our local/global community!
Last school year, we achieved high levels of academic success. We look forward to building upon this success by supporting your child to reach even greater levels of proficiency. This year, we will be academic standards driven to ensure that your child is exposed to rich and rigorous content.
We know that high levels of learning occur when we build a strong partnership with you. In order to build this relationship, I ask that you invite members of our staff during the first few weeks of school to engage in a virtual (or potentially in-person) home or porch visit. During this brief thirty-minute conversation, our staff will learn what your hopes, and dreams are for your child’s future! We will also get the opportunity to share with you specifics about our vision of being a school that continuously celebrates/honors diversity, develops a sense of students self confidence/respect, and instructional innovation.
This upcoming school year, your child will be successful because we will utilize the power of WE! The power of we includes our teachers, our community members, and most importantly you!
Over the next weeks, our Denver Public Schools will finalize our approach to learning for the 20-21 School Year. Once this decision is announced, I will send communication via our website articulating our approach to learning at our Marie L. Greenwood. In the meantime, please begin to read our new uniform expectations for the upcoming school year as they have altered to best support our student’s success for the upcoming school year.

Deseo seguridad y protección para sus familias durante esta difícil e incierta época. Nuevamente, sigo enviando deseos positivos y pensamientos prometedores a medida que continuamos navegando los próximos meses de verano.
Incluso en esta época incierta, estoy muy entusiasmado y honrado de unirme a la comunidad de Greenwood/Montbello como líder escolar para el año escolar 2020-2021 y más allá.
En los últimos cinco años, he servido a la comunidad de Montbello/Green Valley como líder escolar. He trabajado en la Escuela Primaria John H. Amesse y, más recientemente, trabajé como director de la Escuela Primaria Green Valley. Bajo mi liderazgo, generamos una gran cantidad de éxito académico y social. El año escolar anterior logramos altos niveles de éxito académico. Esperamos aprovechar este éxito al apoyar a su hijo para que alcance aún mayores niveles de competencia. Este año, nos centraremos en los estándares académicos para garantizar que su hijo esté expuesto a contenido rico y exigente.
Sabemos que los altos niveles de aprendizaje se producen cuando creamos una asociación sólida con ustedes. A fin forjar esta relación, les pido que inviten a miembros de nuestro personal escolar durante las primeras semanas de clases a participar en una visita en la casa o el porche. Durante las próximas semanas, las Escuelas Públicas de Denver finalizarán nuestro enfoque de aprendizaje para el año escolar 20-21. Una vez que se anuncie esta decisión, enviaré una comunicación que detalle el enfoque de aprendizaje de Marie L. Greenwood.
