Our school is dedicated to Marie L. Greenwood:  

Marie L. Greenwood grew up in the Denver Public School system. She graduated from West High School and was third in her class of 257. She received a scholarship to Colorado Teachers College in Greeley, Colorado. She became the first African American female teacher to be given a contract in the Denver Public School system. She became tenured in 1938 and taught in Denver for thirty years.
